Christina Peters Ceramics
I am a ceramic artist and pottery teacher based at Flameworks studios in Plymouth.
My Raku Work
Some of my work specializes in Raku ceramics, especially ‘Naked Raku’, a technique that uses glaze as a tool to create beautiful original markings on the naked clay body with fire and smoke.
My vessels are based on simple forms and clean sculptural lines with organically derived surfaces
My Wild Clay Work
I am currently exploring the use of ‘Wild clay’ pigments collected from local beaches and woodland streams for surface cover and mark making in my work.
Wild clays create a rich palette of subtle tones and textures, that echoe the natural beauty of where it was found and connect the ceramic objects with places and natural environments – locally as well as globally.
I am interested in creating an emotional link between ourselves and the natural world we are part of and I hope with that, a growing feeling of appreciation and care for its protection.
